There were so many ways he could react to the situation at hand, and Zeke was still trying to figure out which one was the best when he took the blow to the stomach. It was painful, but quite honestly the new discomfort in his abdomen provided him with a much welcomed distraction from the pain in his face. He did fall, but not out of pain; he fell to buy himself a few more minutes to think, to recuperate, to gather his thoughts.
He knew that he could stand up if he wanted to. He also knew that if he wanted to, at this point, he probably could’ve taken Kirkland now that he was free from the surprise choke-hold on his collar. But as of now he was the only one who had been injured, and if this went any farther he could prove that he’d been attacked and that he hadn’t laid a finger on the guy who’d done it. Not like he was going to go to the police, though. That would only cause Christian drama. Drama he couldn’t afford, because Zeke knew that if this was what he did to a kid he barely knew, then he could only imagine what he would do to his own son.
No, Ezekiel knew that he had to let this one go. He knew that if he did anything, then he’d be in way over his head. Things were over now, at least they were supposed to be, and this would be the very last time he would ever have to suffer the intolerance of Kirkland Hart. It was a pity that he couldn’t say the same about Christian, though.
"I want you to go back to the crack in hell you came from and stay the fuck away from our lives, arrogant son-of-a-bitch. I want you to take your disgusting lifestyle and keep it away from our family. And I want you, most of all, to burn in hell."
Harsh. Kirkland's ignorance about being a homosexual was stunning, to say the least. The extent to which he was willing to go to deny the fact that not everybody was just like him... astounding. Zeke couldn't believe that anyone could be so close-minded!
"Fine. If that's what you want, then it's yours. I will never again go near you or anyone else in your family. The burning in hell part is out of my control, though," he added, not being able to help being a smart ass. The first part had been sincere, though, and Kirkland could probably hear it in his voice. He didn't plan on seeing Christian or his family again, at least not any time soon. After all... it was over.
