Garrett walked into Hot Topic first, looking around at all the familiar items. He had suggested the place for he and Faye to first start looking for clothes for their costumes for two reasons.
The first was Hot Topic was the place to go if you wanted something Harry Potter related: clothing, costume, or objects. The second was that, working there himself, he had an employee discount to offer for her use.

Faye followed behind Garrett, not completely unfamiliar with the store they were entering. She got a decent amount of her clothing from Hot Topic, but it was always the fun stuff - brightly colored shirts or unique jewelry. She tended to avoid the black t-shirts and stuff, which usually made her seem out of place. The discount this time around would be nice too.
"So, what do you think? Hair dye, boots... maybe a feminine-looking trench-coat that I can turn into a robe... or something like that?"
Faye was a decent HP fan, but nothing obsessive. She had a few images in her head as to the direction they could go with her costume...

"Yeah," Garrett said nodding and looking around the store, his eyes resting on the dyes behind the glass case. "Are you going for pink or purple hair?"
He knew enough about Harry Potter to know that she could choose one of those two colors for people to get what she was supposed to be.

"Purple," she said, deciding that this color would look a lot better on her than bubblegum pink. "Definitely purple." This would help because bubblegum pink was lighter, and harder to find in the form of cheap hairspray. Purple, on the other hand, seemed to be the crazy punk/goth color of choice and was easily found everywhere from Claire's to Hot Topic in the mall.
"Which shade do you think would work best?" She questioned, motioning to two different tones of purple and arching an eyebrow.

"Purple?" he repeated, "Nice."
He turned to his right and picked up a leather wristband to examine it. He hadn't really been a big sporter of the wristbands, but if they were tasteful. . . However this one had squares studs all over and he wrinkled his nose up in distaste and dropped it back into it's place.
"Well, it'll look nice either way on you," he said and felt himself turn slightly red, at the corniness of his comment. He had to remind himself that even if she would secretly roll her eyes and die a little, Faye would at least pretend to find it slightly charming now that they were dating.
"But personally I'd go with that one," he said, touching the box on the right.

"Thanks," she said, glad that he approved of her choice. Bubblegum pink just wasn't her color. Plus, the compliment was nice - even if it was completely expected of him now that they were dating. Not that she expected him to compliment her, rather society deemed it appropriate since they were a couple. She couldn't help a small smirk.
Faye grabbed the box that Garrett had touched, reading the directions to make sure it was what they were looking for. "Yeah, this looks like it'll work," she agreed, glad that the decision had been made fairly easily. "It's semi-permanent, so I might have purple hair for a few days, but... meh. It'll be a nice change." She was sure her parents would die.
"So, what's next on the list?"

"You can claim it's a statement," Garrett said with a grin, picking up a thing of silverish-grey temporary hair dye.
He was going to use it to fleck his hair, giving him the look of a stressed out werewolf. The Robe he'd purchased from the salvation army and had asked Desmond about the proper way to do what he learned was known as 'distressing': taking sandpaper to your clothes to give it a worn, or old look. ((think that works on things besides denim too)) As for his clothes and shoes, he was jsut going to wear some of his clothes and a pair of combat boots. HE was going to be an interpretation of Lupin.
"So you know Desmond's going as James, Audrey's gong as Lily, and Vinnie's going as Sirius?" he asked.
Vinnie was a whole other story he knew. The two had talked things over though, and he assumed everything was fine about Faye and he now.

"My parents will kill me," she stated, but kept the dye anyway. She didn't mind, it would be a fun change to have partially purple hair once the stuff never washed out again. Who knew, maybe she'd like it and keep it that way?
"Yeah... well, I'm pretty sure you told me at one point in time, I just couldn't remember who was going as who," she added, because she really hadn't been able to remember. "It sounds like a ton of fun. I can't wait to see everyone else's costumes... I feel sort of like I'm cheating, since I don't really need a uniform or anything, though," she added. Her costume was more 'punk with a cloak' than anything. Not that she was complaining, of course. That's just how it was.

"No, cheating would be showing up in your regular clothes and saying you came as a muggle," Garrett said with a wry grin. "Besides, you're dying your hair purple, that's dedication."
