Tad had come out of St. James with his messenger band slung over his shoulder and his ipod on. The GSA meeting was over and he was headed over to his car to go home or to the mall or to grab something to eat, anything really. He was already bored just from the walk to his car.
It was weird in his house lately. His dad was sad due to the lack of Bradnon in there now. Even though he tried to hide it by acting as though it hadn't happened, he could tell. He thought about al of this as he walked down the front steps.

Brooke had cheer practice after school. It had been a hell of a day. Lena had quit the squad, and there had been an uproar about it during practice. It had taken everything she could do to get them focused again, and even after that the whole thing hadn't been very productive. They had to change around some of the group stuff, since the positioning changed now that they were down a person. Things would be fine by Friday, though.
She was on her way up the slope that led from the football field to the parking lots when she passed by the steps. Coming out of the school at that very moment was Tadhg. They weren't at the point in their relationship where each knew the other's schedule by heart, and she'd forgotten that he had said something about a GSA meeting or something like that.
"Hey!" she called in greeting. With her duffle bag slung over her shoulder, she wrapped her arms around Tadhg as she came up to him, giving him a quick kiss.

Tad hadn't heard Brooke call with his headphones in, so he was slightly surprised when he falt someone's arms around him. He felt Brooke kiss him quickly and turned to her with a grin, taking his headphoens out of his ears and sliding an arm around her waiste.
"Hey there," he said. "Fancy meeting you here. You just get out of practice?"

Brooke laughed a little as she realized that Tadhg had headphones on and she had caught him by surprise. She felt the arm side around her midsection and smiled a little more. It felt so nice to have a decent boyfriend, one she trusted and didn't fear half the time. It was very nice.
"Fancy meeting you here. You just get out of practice?"
"Hey yourself," she said, in a surprisingly better mood than she had been just moments before. "Yeah, if you could even call it that," she added, in reply to his question. "GSA?" she asked, inquiring as to why he was still here.

"Oh yeah, it just let out," he said, gesturing unnecessarily at the building.
He still hadn't mentioned that the reason he was in GSA was because his father was gay. He wasn't ashamed, he just wasn't sure how best to throw it it causally into conversation.
"I was just about to find a way to waste some time, got any plans for the night?" he asked.

Brooke nodded. She didn't question why he was in the GSA, because it really wasn't any of her business. Maybe he had his own reasons. She hoped he wasn't secretly gay or anything, because that would kind of suck for her, but she doubted that was the case. He didn't seem gay, at least.
"Cool," she replied, before thinking about ways to kill time for the night. "I don't have any plans. I don't work tonight, though, so I'm free to hang out if you want," she added.

"Sweet," Tad said, giving her a an affecionate squeeze. ((God, I should not post after reading books about feminine male vampires)) "Do you want to grab something to eat and go back to my place? We could watch a movie or play video games. . .not that I'm a closet video game nerd. . .or anything."
He wondered if Brooke even like video games. He didn't want to stereo type, but she was a cheerleader. Although, on the other hand, she did like comic books, and that wasn't exactly normal cheerleader behavior. She was surprising him with all of her unexpected personality traits: that was part of her charm for him.

Brooke smiled slightly to herself as Tad gave her a squeeze. She was getting used to actual signs of affection. She hadn't realized how emotionally drained she'd been during her relationship with Blane until it had ended.
"That sounds like a good plan," she said, nodding eagerly at the idea. "I can't guarentee I'll be any good at the video games, though. I don't play a whole lot on my own, but it isn't like I'm a complete n00b," she added, well aware of the fact that she was probably misusing the terminology.

Brooke was glad that she had something to do that night. Granted, she should probably have been studying for her math test, but they were allowed to use notecards so she wasn't too worried about it.
"Let's go," she replied, following him to the parking lot.
