Brooke showed up at four, just as planned. She had just enough time to change her clothes before coming from practice, which was good because she didn't want to come into the comic book shop wearing her warm-up gear! Instead, she had on jeans and a vintage 80's Avengers tee.
The bell overhead rang to signal her arrival. "Reporting for duty, Mr. Novotny!" Brooke called into the store, smiling slightly.

Michael shook his head as he chuckled at Brooke's eagerness. He walked around the counter to where she was standing.
"You can stop calling me Mr. Novotny. It makes me feel old. . ." he said. "So the basic thigns you need to know are where all the comics are located, but you already know that. The cash register is pretty basic: you use the scanner for the upc's and then type in the cash amount."
He looked around the shop, making sure he was covering everything.
"I do all of the stock work, so you don't have to worry about that. Umm mostly to start, I thougth you could help out the customers by showing them which comics are wher and helping if they have questions about pricing. Then you can move to behind the counter," he continued. "So umm do you have any questions. . .?"

Brooke shook her head. Unlike many other people and their first jobs, she was excited. She already knew most of the stuff that went on in the comic book shop and so she was very comfortable working there right from the start.
"No, Mr. Nov... I mean, Michael. I think I should be able to handle that." She was also a very good people-person, so she was extra-prepared. She decided to stand by the door, straightening some comics, while she waited for someone to come in.

Tadhg had decided to sneak out of the house and come to the comic book store again that day to actually buy the x-men book he's been looking at: the one with Gambit.
He had to sneak out because his dad had made him stay home from school today since he'd been "mugged." He felt fine after coming home from the hospital last night, and was bored out of his fucking mind sitting at home on the couch all day.
He walked back over to the x-men section, not noticing the girl he'd met yesterday. ((wondering if this is weird. . .because I acted like he hadn't seen her in school))

((ooc- well, it is under the Liberty Ave. subject heading, so I'm guessing so!))
Brooke saw Tadhg come in and smiled a little. She'd run out on him the day before, but it hadn't been his fault. She was glad to see that he was out and about still.
"Anything I can help you with?" she asked, wondering if he'd remember her from the day before. Maybe, since she was dating Blane, he'd ignore her.
((ooc- yeah... just a little weird, since the whole hallway thing, even though this is technically two days before that goes on))

"Oh hey," Tad said, looking up. "I uh yeah, I was just lokoing for the new Gambit X-men comic." ((PS he was hospitalized last night))

Brooke was happy to help her first 'customer', even though she was pretty sure that Tadhg could've found it on his own given another minute or two. "Right over here," she said, leading him to the a rack nearby the door. "I haven't read through the whole thing yet, but it looks like a pretty good one."

"Sweet, thanks," Tad said, picking out a copy and leafing through it quickly. "Yeah, I liked the last one, so I'm hoping this one's good. Different animator though."

Brooke nodded. "Yeah. I hate when that happens, because you sort of get used to the original thing, don't you? I mean, sometimes change is good, but sometimes it can just put you off. I didn't mind this time, it's still pretty well done."
Brooke loved the fact that she could easily connect to anybody who walked through those doors due to her love of comics. This would give her plenty of opportunities to make new friends, she just knew it.

Tad stopped flipping through the pages.
"Yeah, it doesn't seem too bad," he said. "Actually this guy might be better."

"Better? Than the original?" Brooke paused for emphasis, pretending to be horrified, before smiling. "Just kidding. But isn't that some sort of blasphemy or something? I mean, the original is always better in it's own right, since it came first. It didn't have anything to work with."
A place where she got paid to work with comic books? Yeah, this job was going to be great.

"Woah, woah," Tad said defensively. "I never mentioned Stan Lee. He's unbeatable. I just meant better than the most recent animator guy."

Brooke laughed. "I know, I know, I'm just giving you a hard time," Brooke said, smiling. "I agree. He does have a certain style about him."
((ooc- arg, gtg!))
