Prudence had made an appointment to talk to Principal Myers in the morning before school. She had a major major problem with a certain club at the school and now that she was a senior hopefully she'd be able to do something about it. It wasn't like it was something that just started bothering her; the entire time the club had been around she'd be severely disturbed by it. She sat in less than comfortable chair out side Dr. Myers office and waited to be called in.

Alan took a sip of his coffee: Foldgers with Irish creme- creamer and two packets of sweet and low. The door to his office was open, so he didn't get up to call in the student.
"Come in," he called in his low and raspy voice.
He folded his newspaper in half and pushed it off to the side of his desk. He could read the comics later. He pulled his glasses out of their case and put them on before the girl walked in.

Prudence flatten her skirt and straightened her tie before going into the principals office. She sat on the chair in front of Dr. Myers' desk and crossed her legs with her hands resting on her knee.
"Dr. Myers," she began politely, "I'm sure you're aware of some of the complaints regarding St. James Gay Straight Alliance?" she didn't want to say to much at once; she wanted to make sure her and Dr. Myers' were on the same page during their little discussion.

Dr. Meyers looked up distractedly from some papers that he''d found left out on his desk from last night. He picked them up and dropped them onto the desk to make an even edge before putting them off to the side of his desk.
"I have heard one or two of them, yes," he said.

Prudence jiggled her foot impatiently. Dr. Myers' seemed to be more concerned about the papers on his desk than what she had to say. Prudence was not used to being ignored nor did she like it when it actually happened.
"Well?" she said with annoyance expecting Dr. Myers' to say something about it. "Don't you think that given the somewhat religious stand point of the school that some of the student's here find the club immoral?"

"Yes, I had figured that out actually," he replied calmly. "I informed the students responsible for starting the club that this is in fact a religious school when they asked me to allow them to form it. They, however went ahead with it anyway. There were more than five members who expressed a desire to join the club so I had to allow it."
He really didn't feel he needed to explain himself to a student, but everything had been legit in their request, so he didn't see the harm in him telling her. He didn't really mind the GSA, he would never go to a meeting himself, but so long as the kids kept it neat and didn't start trouble they were welcome to meet.
He didn't come from an overly religious background himself, but this was the school he'd been transfered to almost three years ago, and he wuold make due.

Prudence was positively fuming. "My parents do not pay $15,000 ((I'm just guessing)) a year for me to go to a school where any yahoo can go and start a fag club! It just goes against both religious values and moral values as well!" It was bad enough that these kids were gay, did they have to announce it to the whole school? It was disgusting! St. James is a private high school not a gay pride rally!

((more like 5,000 but oh well it cost 1,00 to go to elementary school when I left in fourth grade))
"I'm very sorry you feel that way," Alan said, not having much feeling behind his words. "I might remind you that your parents pay that money for you to come to a school I run. That fag club is legitimately run by students. If you'd like to pray for them at mass, that's another story, but may I ask why you've brought this up?"

"Because it's just not right!" Prudence was almost screaming now, "I've kept my mouth shut about it long enough, but no more! Now that I'm a senior I intent to do something about it! It's what Jesus would do!" she pointed to her WWJD band on her wrist, "And I refuse to spend my senior year having to put up with some gay pride club!" If she had to she could get her parents and her church group involve if Dr. Myers wasn't willing to help. Maybe she could even get him fired.

"I'll remind you that you're in my office and you'd do best to keep your voice down," Dr. Myers said dangerously.
He didn't spend all that time in college and working his way up the system so that he could be screamed at by a spoiled 18 year old with a Jess complex.
"Well since you've brought Christ into this," he said. "I'd like to quote one of his commandments to you. 'Love one another as I have loved.' I believe the Lord was famous for forgiving sinners and acceptign them, Ms. Roberts."

Prudence looked at her prinicpal as if she'd like nothing better than to set him on fire and send him to hell with other people like him who had no respect for the lord. "I am well aware of what the bible says! It also that being homosexual is wrong!" Prudence took a deep breath to calm herself down, "Well, obviously you're not going to help me. We'll just have to see what my father thinks about this!" She got off of the chair and stormed out of Dr. Myers office.

"Good God," Alan muttered to himself moodily as the girl left.
It was people like her that made him glad he wasn't a religious fanatic. He didn't give a damn what she'd have to say to her father either. Even if it worked, and he got fired, he'd find work elsewhere. He had a great resume and came highly recommended. If anything the school would look bad for firing him.
Mostly he just couldn't understand why Catholic's found it so hard to follow there own teachings. And he'd like to see the passage in the Bible that said, word for word, "thou shalt not be gay". Because until then, all of it was just allusion and interpretation and it all seemed rather shaky to him. If God hated the gays so bloody much, he figured there'd be a helluva lot of smiting going on.
He knocked on wood, just to be cautious. But in all honesty, fanatics like her got under his skin. He;d gone to church as a child and for a year his parents had tried catholic schooling for him. Of course it was too expensive for them to keep him and his brothers in, so they withdrew, but even so, he'd grown up with his own set of morals and beliefs. Bible thumpers took everything without questioning, and while that could be admired to an extent, the word was shades of grey, not black and white.
