Prudence decided to tackle her part of the list alphabetically and seeing as 'D' came before 'J' and 'R' it looked like Dylan had the luck privilege of being first. Prudence knew all about the boy; he was a gay football player. Disgusting in Prudence's opinion. The boy was clearly using the sport as an excuse to be in a pile up with other men and to corrupt the minds of the straight Christians on the team. Prudence was just going to have to put a stop to it.
She waited out side the locker room after she saw the football players come in after practice. She'd stayed after school just to watch the team and to keep an eye on Dylan.

Dylan had finished a rather satisfying football practice. He was running back for the team, and felt that he and the receiver had started to really work together out on the field. When he threw a pass, Donnie was right where he needed to be.
He stripped off the sweat stained practice uniform, and hopped into the shower to freshen up before heading home to do a bit of homework and maybe join Paige and her friends in a movie night. He'd be only too willing to offer Adamo a ride over. He smiled at the thought of the innocent junior. If nothing else had convinced him of it, he'd shown up at the GSA meeting the other day. . .and the dance. . . He was definitely in Dylan's thoughts.
He wrapped a towel around his waist, and threw on some clean clothes. He made sure he very obviously kept his eyes on his own clothes / body. The friends he had on the team were all right with him being gay, but most people didn't give him any trouble as long as they weren't worried he was ogling their bodies.
He went outside the locker room, his messenger bag slung across his shoulder, when he spotted Prudence. The sight of her stopped him mid-step. He rather hoped she was waiting for one of the football players, perhaps someone like Blane to recruit for her Christian Brute Squad, and not him.

It didn't take Prudence too long to find what she was looking for; in no time Dylan came out of the locker room, stopping dead in his tracks once he spotted her. He must have know what she was up to the moment he saw her, but that didn't discourage her at all. On the contrary, she was glad she struck fear into the hearts of the Homos of St. James. It gave her a great feeling of power.
"Well, hello Dylan," she said sweetly. "Practice went well I trust?" It seemed best to ease him into Jesus' ways rather than shove it down his throat, but if it came to that, Prudence would have no problems doing it. Someone had to do the work of God in this school.

Unfortunately for him, it was as he had suspected: Prude was waiting for him. Her sweet tones hardly had him fooled. The great homophobe couldn't possibly have anything good to say to an openly gay boy such as himself.
"Well enough," he said politely. "Was there something you needed?"

"As a matter of fact there is something I need" she said she took a step toward him and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. "Well, I don't need something so much as Jesus needs something. Now, don't run away, but I'd just like to talk to you about your choice in life to be a homosexual. I must ask you, does it really make you happy? Don't you think you'd be much happier doing what the Lord intended?" Prudence kept her tones sweet and nonaccusing. It took all her energy not to call him a fag and throw the bible at him. Jesus taught patience and forgiveness, Prudence kept reminding herself of that.

Dylan rolled his eyes at Prudence. The ignorance of people never ceased to amaze him. People like Prudence his behind religion as a means of furthering their intolerable ways. He'd heard this tired old tune time and time again. Really did these people think bashings, and prejudice were a walk in the park. . .that people were just sort of lined up for all the fun times that came along with being gay? Sure he was proud of what he was, but he didn't choose to be it.
"Being gay isn't a choice," he told her patiently. "If it was all about choosing. . .do you really think we'd choose to make life harder on ourselves?"
He scratched distractedly at his wet locks. He really didn't feel like dealing with this now. . .not when his accepting sister was at home and there was the possibility of her cute friend coming over.
"And if the Lord had intended for me to be straight. . .I'm pretty sure I'd be dating some cheerleader right now," he said in the same patient voice, that suggested he was trying to reason with her.
He was being polite and patient with her now, but if she went mental on him, and he'd been present for some colorful reactions, he'd be out of there before she could say homo.

Prudence was a bit shocked by Dylan's patience with her; she hadn't expected it, but it was a good sign. Perhaps this would turn out as messy as she thought it would. Perhaps Dylan would actually listen to her like a good boy. She was glad she had assigned him to herself, she could only imagine what Timothy was going through with Audrey and what Justice was going through with Gogo ,not to mention Armand and Lucien. She still had Reid to deal with though, and she was sure he was going to be a royal pain in the ass.
"Yes, but honey, I don't see you trying to make it easier for yourself." she said gently, placing a hand on Dylan's shoulder. She was so sick of fags saying how hard they had it when they weren't even trying to go straight. They were always complaining about people abusing them and how they didn't have any rights, but they're too lazy to try to better themselves! If all the gay people in the world tried to become straight the world would be a much better place! There was plenty of options for help; there were Christan camps where gay kids could go to learn to be straight and there was always electroshock therapy! Gay people were just lazy!
"I can help you not have to worry about all those things anymore, darling." Prudence continued sweetly, "If you just give me a chance. . . I'm sure I can help you. . ."

Dylan looked at her hand pointedly: he didn't like that she was touching him. Not that girls touching him made him feel uncomfortable, just Prudence.
"Yes, but honey, I don't see you trying to make it easier for yourself. I can help you not have to worry about all those things anymore, darling. If you just give me a chance. . . I'm sure I can help you. . ."
"See that's the rub," Dylan said with a sad little sigh for Prudence. "I don't want to be helped. The only thing you could do for me . . .is try to force me to pretend to be someone I'm not. I like boys, plain and simple. Changing that would be changing the way God made me."
He couldn't understand in a world filled with poverty, famine, abuse, and disease that people could be so unsettled by whether he kissed a boy or girl.

"God makes everyone straight." said Prudence coolly. Prudence HATED when people told her 'God made me gay'. That was just a bullshit excuse for their poor choice in life. If God didn't want people to be gay than why would he make them that way? It just didn't make any sense. God did, however, give people free will, but Prudence saw that as a way to test people; see whether or not they are good Christians without being forced to follow God's way. "It's temptation that turns people gay. But, luckily for you, God is forgiving and it's never to late to change your ways."

Dylan rolled his eyes at her 'God makes everyone straight' bullshit. If God made everyone straight, he wouldn't be having this conversation with her right now.
"It's temptation that turns people gay. But, luckily for you, God is forgiving and it's never to late to change your ways."
At her next comment, he folded his arms and began to move away from her, towards the other end of the hallway.
"Wow, that's opened up a whole new line of thinking for me," he said, sarcasm creeping into his voice. "Just the same, I already told you I don't want to be saved. I don't need forgiveness, I haven't done anything wrong."

Prudence knew that her time with Dylan was over. He was already starting to walk away, but that didn't mean that Prudence was going to give up, it just meant that she was going to back off for now. Persistence was how she was going to win the fags over. She wasn't going to force it on them all at once, she had to ease them into it and Prudence was just patient enough for that.
"I understand," said Prudence with sad smile, "but don't think I'm going to give up on you, dear! I've made my point for now." Prudence turned on her heal with her long blond hair flipping behind her and headed down the hall.

Dylan gave an unpleasant shudder as she made her way out of his sight. Once she was out of earshot, he muttered, "Homophobic bitch," under his breath. With an exasperated sigh, he turned around and carried his bags to his car, far more interested in the movie night than Prudence's schemes.
