Vinnie enjoyed the fall weather so much that he decided to go out side in the court yard for his study hall. He sat on the ground against the wall reading his Chemistry book. He was in a better mood than he had been the last few days. Talking to Sebastian actually made him feel a bit better about his girl problem and he may even be able to help Vinnie resolve them! Yes, things were defiantly looking up.

Garrett didn't feel much like sitting around inside during his study hall, he hated most of the kids in that class anyway. He was wearing the school uniform, just like every other day. He always felt as thought he looked out of place in the Christian School attire, especially on days like today when he wore a black hoodie over the white button down shirt and tie.
He noticed Vinnie sitting on the steps and was reminded of what Desmond had told him yesterday. . .and not that he wanted to dress up as James and Sirius. He sighed and made his way over to him.
He sat down next to him, his back leaning against the wall, and his shoulders slightly hunched. He pulled out a cigarette and his lighter.
"Hope you don't mind me joining you," he said, lighting his cigarette. "So. . .you've seemed kind of down lately.

Vinnie had been so consumed with reading the chapter about Biochemistry that he almost didn't notice Garrett walk into the courtyard. Even though Vinnie had a crush on Garrett's girlfriend, he didn't hold any bitter feelings toward him. Well, except for maybe a bit of jealousy, but he wasn't about to let that get out of hand.
"Oh sure." said Vinnie, marking his page and closing is beloved Chemistry book.
"So. . .you've seemed kind of down lately.
"Oh, I, ah, well, maybe just a bit." stammered Vinnie. He'd already discussed his girl problems with Desmond and Garrett and he felt like if he had to talk to another person about it he'd turn into a whiny little bitch. Besides, he was starting to feel better. He was just reading his Chemistry book after all. . . "I guess, you know, just with all this cray shit going on with GSA and me having to wear a dress, and the football season coming to a close, it's just a bit much. . ." Vinnie hoped this excuse would satisfy Garrett, but he had his doubts.

Garrett already knew the real reasoning behind Vinnie's disposition, but Vinnie didn't seem to want to admit to it. He also didn't seem too down just now, but then again he was horrible at reading emotions. . .and Desmond had said. . .
"So, uh, I know you like Faye," he said, horrible with tact. "Well, I mean, I'm guessing you like Faye. I sort of put two and two together."
He scratched at his hair absently with the hand holding his cigarette. He managed not to get ashes in his hair or set his head on fire though.
"I just want to make sure we're ok," he said.

Vinnie froze. Garrett knew?! How the fuck did he know? Had Vinnie made it that obvious?! Well, he had been acting a bit uncharacteristically lately. . . perhaps it was easy for Garrett to tell why.
Vinnie didn't say anything at first, he was too shocked to speak. He watcher nervously as Garrett scratched his head with a cigarette in hand. Garrett had to use some type of flammable hair product, it was a miracle his head didn't catch fire! Vinnie was almost distracted from the current issue by trying to figure out how he'd put out Garrett's hair, had it caught on fire!
"I, ah, ah," Vinnie stammered, running a hand through his own hair, "I-I do, but I'd never try anything. . . I mean, I had my chance for years now so I don't see how it would be any different. . . We're cool, yeah . . . I haven't done any thing to suggest otherwise have I?" Vinnie didn't know if he had subconsciously been cold toward Garrett or not. He didn't think he had been, but perhaps he had in some way.

"Good, I mean I didn't figure it out until after I'd asked Faye out," he said. "I just didn't want you to think I was being a prick or anything."
"I haven't done any thing to suggest otherwise have I?"
"No," he assured him. "Nothing like that. I just wanted to make sure that you were secretly plotting to kill or anything like that."

"Secretly plot to kill you. . ." said Vinnie in mock thought, "No . . . I would never do that. . ." Vinnie gave Garrett a reassuring smile to show that he was just joking. He had to do something to off set the awkwardness that was just created.
"So, um," Vinnie began, "Did Desmond tell you about our Halloween idea?"

Garrett breathed a sigh of relief and gave a slight chuckle at Vinnie's words. At least he didn't have to worry that Vinnie would be secretly hating him or hoping he would fuck it up with Faye somehow.
"So, um, did Desmond tell you about our Halloween idea?"
"Oh yeah," he said, with a nod to confirm this. "He wants me to go as Lupin."

"I think you'd make a good Lupin!" said Vinnie earnestly. Really, any conversation other than that about Garrett and Faye was good right now. Lately he'd been trying to just not think about it which was hard only when he saw Garrett and Faye together. Since he sort of gotten used to when and where this happened he was able to avoid it.
"It shouldn't be a hard costume to pull off. . . " Vinnie continued, "Just look shabby looking. . . maybe carry around some Werewolf ears just in case." Vinnie knew Garrett wasn't as much of a Harry Potter fan as him and he didn't know if any one was an much of a Harry Potter fan as Desmond; the kid slept with a Harry Potter doll his grandma made him!

"I guess I could go as him," he said, deciding to leave out the bit about Faye being Tonks. "I could get grey streaks for my hair and go nuts with scar makeup."
Garrett liked dressing up, not in a drag queen likes to dress up kind of way, rather he had often thought about becoming an actor because of all the costumes they got to put on kind of way.

"Yeah! That's cool." said Vinnie, "I already have the hair for it I think. . . I never picture Sirius with facial hair so I'm going to leave that part out. I'm thinking I'll just look like a bad ass mother fucker with a wand. I actually have Sirius Black's wand, um, Desmond got it for me for Christmas last year." Vinnie added quickly. He wasn't as crazy for HP as Desmond, at least not enough to buy a wand. . . He had a shirt that said Azkaban on it with Sirius Black's mug shot number on it, but that was about it.
"So, how have you been with the whole Prudence situation?" said Vinnie, thinking it was time for a change of subject.

Garrett looked around quickly to be sure no one was listening before leaning in closer to talk Vinnie. When he spoke, he kept his voice low. The last thing he needed was for his cover to be blown.
"It's going all right," he said at length. "Things are kind of crazy, but nothing too drastic's happened yet."

"Good." said Vinnie. He knew how hard this must be for Garrett, not being able to talk to his friends with out Prudence breathing down his neck. In fact, Vinnie was surprised Prudence or Justice wasn't watching the both of them right now! They were, after all, out in the open. Perhaps they weren't as worried about Garrett talking to Vinnie as they were with Garrett having a private conversation with Desmond. It was all very confusing, he kept forgetting whether or not Garrett was supposed to be friends with Desmond or hate Desmond or both. Vinnie was just glad he wasn't in Garrett's shoes right now.
"I think they're up to something though," said Vinnie, "Audrey was telling me that the other day Timothy Write just came up to her and started talking. Normally those types avoid Audrey like the plague. And the Dylan was sayin' how Prudence had a chat with him. I just hope Desmond and Cynthia know what they're doing. . ."

"You and me both," Garrett said, taking a drag from his cigarette. "They've already chatted with me plenty, and I talked to Dylan about the other day. The ACS seems to expect me to swoop in and speed up their conversion."

Vinnie sighed. "I hope this all works out in the end," he said sadly, "It sucks because Prudence seems to have the upper hand because her father gives the school so much money. He probably could control the school if he wanted to, you know? But Desmond's father is a lawyer and I'm sure he could find something illegal with what Prudence is trying to do." Not being gay himself, Vinnie could only imagine the toll this was taking on the gay students of St. James who depended on GSA. He was a member, yes, but this wasn't a battle he was going to have to face in his daily life, unlike the gays in GSA. He was just glad that Desmond was a strong leader. Hopefully he'll be able to figure all this out.

"Yeah, but at least Dr. Myers isn't a complete asshole. As long as he's the principal, I don't think anyone's dad is going to own anything," Garrett mused.
He actually rather liked their principal and if he could choose his father, he'd want him to be somethign like him.
