[Viola Hastings]

Viola was laying on a barbell exercise spot in the weight room. She had one two shirts (a blue t-shirt over a grey long sleeved under armor) to cover for her lack of male physique and her female endowments; no matter how small. ((Vi really is me. .. )) She was determined to get herself into better shape for soccer. She had only made second string at St. James after tryouts the other day, and that defeated the whole purpose of her coming here to begin with. She sighed, lifting the bar with ten pound waits on either side out of it's holder.

The total weight was 60 pounds which disappointed her, but she had to start out small, and build her way up. She felt her arms shake slightly from the strain, and realized how difficult it would be to get the bar back up off her chest. As sweat rolled down her forehead and she felt the wig begin to itch uncomfortably, she wondered if maybe the couch at GW had been right. Maybe girls just weren't as good as boys athletically.

Wait, what was she thinking? That was ridiculous!She couldn't think like that! She pushed the barbell back up of her chest and grinned.

Desmond had to stay fit for Lacrosse so he made a point to go to the school's weight room at least twice a week to get a good work out. The first thing he saw once he enter the room was little Viola, still trying to pass off as a boy, trying to bench press sixty pounds. It was almost comical to watch her struggle, but it got to a point where Desmond thought it would almost be dangerous not to step in. Just as he was about to help her she managed to lift the bar herself.

"Oh, very nice." he said as he walked toward her, "but weight room rules are you can't be in here by yourself and when you bench press you always need a spotter. You're lucky I showed up. Now we're all alone. . .no one to bother us." Desmond couldn't help, but try and freak her out.

[Viola Hastings]

"Should Ah invest in a rape whistle?" Viola joked, surprised at Desmond's entrance. "and Ah don't need a spotter. . .I can handle myself."

She put the barbell into the holders and made a husky sort of stretching sound. Like 'whew what a workout.'

"Well that was a good one, i think I'll just go . .clean up a bit. . ." she said, looking for her sweat rag.

"Oh, don't go yet!" said Desmond, "I need a spotter, do you mind?" He wasn't letting Viola go that easily. He was having a great time messing with her! It took all his self control not to tell her he knew who she really was. He probably was going to have to eventually, but for now he was just going to have fun. "Pretty please, stay and help me?" He gave Viola his best puppy dog face ever.

"Uh I should really be going," she said, but didn't want to come off as a bitch, no matter how uncomfortable Desmond was making her feel. Puppy dog faces generally made her uncomfortable as well. "If you're gonna be quick about it, Ah guess Ah can stay a few more minutes."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

"Really?" exclaimed Desmond running over to Viola and giving her a huge hug. "That's Vi-Sebastian!" He almost let himself slip, but caught it at the last second. He just hoped it wasn't too obvious. "I think I'll start off easy." he said as he pranced over to the weights and put 50 pounds worth on each side of the bar. "A hundred pounds is a good place to start! Ready?"

Viola heard the slip up as only one who is constantly panicked about someone finding out her true identity can. Her eyes widened slightly, but her initial instinct was to play it off cool, she walked over and attempted to look as thought she knew whatever it was spotters were supposed to do.

"You can say if you know," she said casually as he set up the weights for forty pounds more than she's been lifting.

Fuck, she knew he knew. He could really see no other choice than to just fess up. He was really going to miss fucking with her. "Yeah," he said, his flirt tone completely gone. "I know." He sighed and sat on the bench. "It's not like it's obvious though; I've just met you before. . . and I'm gay," he added, "I just like to ask, why?"

((Ok. . .i don't mind that he knows, but being gay doesn't make you magic. . . . just hot and snappy dresser))

"I--" she paused to take a deep breath before saying what she was about to say. "They cut the girls soccer team at GW, and they wouldn't let me try out for the boys team and a law suit would have taken too long anyway. I would have tried this there, but everyone knew me there. Here I can start over and not have to worry about some girl from the soccer team going hey you look like Viola! So Tad's dad set everything up and not even my parents know about this, so you have to promise not to tell anyone at all about this. You and Tadhg are the only ones that know. .. and my friend Kyan but he doesn't count because he's at GW."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

"Oh." said Desmond shortly after Viola's explanation. That girl was really determinded, it almost made Desmond wish he had a reason to go to a different school in drag. "You really must love soccer. . . um, don't worry, I promise I won't tell anybody. Oh, and one last question; what's it like for you in the boys' locker room?"

[Viola Hastings]

"I uhh," Viola stammered, blushing slightly. "It's yeh know. . .umm ok. Actually it gets kinda awkward because I have to wear a wife beater even when I take off my shirt. . .but I figure I can claim I have a scar or something so that won't be too weird."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

Desmond raised his eyebrows and grinned. "Noooo, I mean what's it like to be surrounded by naked and half naked sexy men? I know there are some guys on the soccer team who are quite the hotties."

[Viola Hastings]

"I umm," she cleared her throat. "I don't know what you're talking about. . . all I know is that sometime guys like to be real friendly. . .and y'know there are a lot of finely sculpted boys at this school."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

Desmond raised his eyebrow even higher, if possible that is. "You love it." he said with a grin. "I love it, but I have to act like I don't as much because I don't want to freak people out, plus I don't want to be known as the creepy gay kid who checks everyone out in the locker room." Desmond understood that most straight guys got uncomfortable when gay guys are checking them out, especially in a setting like the locker room. It doesn't necessarily mean they're homophobic, just that they don't like other guys looking at their ass. "So, did you see anything in there that you like?" he asked with great interest, "See any good St. James hotties?"

Viola didn't want to go spouting all her pent up female teenage hormones, so she merely shrugged in as nonchalant manner as she could.

"I mean they're all generally good looking," she said. "But I didn't see just one, persay, that I like."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

"Psh! You're no fun!" said Desmond as he laid down on the bench, not to lift weights or anything, just to lay back. "What's the point of pretending to be a boy if you can't enjoy checking out boys in the locker room?"

[Viola Hastings]

"I never said I didn't enjoy it," Viola said quickly, without thinking. "I do. . .I've just only been here a few days. . . .Ah mean, I haven't had time to start crushing or anything yet."

She frowned slightly and scratched at her hairline a bit. She had other things on her mind right now too. . .like the recent stabbing of her friend and the seemingly obvious lack of interest straight boys seemed to have in her. Sure. . .girls and gay guys thought Sebastian was cute. . .but take off the sideburns and wig and throw on a dress and she couldn't get anyone to notice her.

"Well, I guess there is that." said Desmond thoughtfully. He knew if it were him, though, that he'd immediately find at least three guys to be crushing on. It really didn't take him much time to develop a liking for someone. When he and Josh met it was practically love at first sight. Well, they'd only knew each other for about two hours before then made out, but that's still a lot faster than Viola was being with the whole crushing on some one thing. Girls were weird.

"Hey, I heard you're going to the home coming dance with Vinnie!" he said suggestively, "I'm sure Sebastian didn't have anything to do with that. . . not at all. . . "

[Viola Hastings]

"Not much actually," she said truthfully. "He wanted to go with Faye, but since he didn't want to get rejected--which was lucky he didn't 'cause it turns out she's already got a date-- he asked me instead. . .and he definitely told Sebastian he just wanted to be friends. All I did was give him my number. . ."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

"Oh, yes, Faye. . . I almost forgot about her." How could he forget about Faye?! Vinnie has only liked her since ninth grade! But, wait a minute. . "Vinnie told you about Faye?" said Desmond in slight shock, "Vinnie won't even tell Audrey or Garrett about Faye. . "

[Viola Hastings]

"Well, he did tell me," she said with a shrug. "She walked by and he asked me what I thought of her, and then he startd telling me about her at lunch. Maybe it's because I'm new and I won't be staying here more than a semester, I don't know."

[Desmond Giuseppe]

"Perhaps." said Desmond thoughtfully. Maybe Vinnie was secretly gay and had a crush on Sebastian and was trying to make him jealous! . . . Probably not, but it was a theory! "Hey are those fake eyebrows?" said Desmond getting a good look at Viola's face. He was very easily distracted.

"Yeah they are," she said with a self satisfied grin. "I got a friend of mine who's taking stage makeup in college to help me out with my get up."
