Clark was on his way home form work and had decided to take the scenic route today. He walked along the worn path in the park, the dust unsettling each time he put his foot down.
He held a briefcase in his right hand and a thermus for his coffee in the other hand. He wore a brown trenchcoat over a grey suit vest, dresspants, and whit button down shirt.
He hummed a song to himself as he walked back to his appartment.

Regina was on patrol, which was her favorite thing to do. It beat the hell out of sitting in that stuffy police office, and it was certainly a lot better than filing paperwork. Most nights nothing interesting happened, but sometimes patrol could be very interesting. It seemed sort of cynical to be wishing some sort of crime would happen, but it kept her on her toes.
She spotted a single person walking on the path and smiled as they came close. "Not causing any trouble, are we?" she joked. Many people looked at her uniform and ignored her, but it was kind of lonely on patrol when you weren't partnered up. "Hey, you didn't happen to see any shady teens floating around, have you?" She figured it was worth asking... she hadn't seen anything, but there had been some vandalism recently and she needed to watch out.

Clark was thorwn off by the sudden voice of the woman in the park. Upon closer inspection he realized she was a police officer.
"Who me?" he asked in a startled voice. "Nope, unless my humming's a problem."
He grinned awkwardly at her. He didn't want to come off as sounding anxious, which he almost always did.
"Shady teens? I haven't seen any yet. . .what are these kids up to today?"

Regina sighed. She hated how wearing the uniform made people nervous around her. She was just a normal person, after all! Why did it have to go and make people all nervous when they were around her.
"I was just joking. You're fine. There's just been some bad cases of vandalism around here lately, that's all."

"Sorry," he said quickly. "Vandalism? I wonder if Perry would buy that?"
He muttered the last part to himself wondering if his editor would want him to write an article about the little tidbit.
"Are you on duty here all night?" he asked.

Regina thought she heard the guy say something about a guy named Perry, but she ignored it. The comment wasn't directed towards her anyway, and she doubted that he was hiding anything. He didn't seem like the vandalizing type.
"Unfortunately, yes," Regina said. "Well, not here, exactly, but I am on duty all night. Most of my time will be spent here, though. In and around the park." She wasn't sure why the guy was asking... perhaps he was just curious.
To make conversation, she continued. "Safe to assume you're on your way home? Like a normal person, to sleep throught he night?"

"I'd hate night shift," he commented. "Yes, I'm just finishing up work myself. I'm off to a night of reading, eating and falling asleep to late night comedy shows. Sad, I know, but that's me."

"Everyone hates night shift," she poitned out.
Regina smiled a little at how much that sounded like her old routine. Before the night shifts, that was. "That's not sad at all. I'd give anything for a cup of ramen and Conan... just like college all over again." She laughed a little. She talked of college like it was forever ago, but she had only graduated a little over a year ago. She was only 24, after all.

"A Conan fan?" Clark said. "Being back in college which was like what yesterday? You don't look old enough to reminisce. I mean. ..wow sorry that was weird. I just...sorry I'll be shutting up and leaving now. . .If there's one thing I've learned it's never discuss a woman's age."

Regina laughed. "No, no, it's quite alright. Actually, it was a little over year ago, pretty much. I'm sort of new to the whole police thing, but it only takes being shot at once to get you used to the job in a hurry." She rolled her eyes a little. First night on the job she'd been shot at, but luckily not hit. It really was a dangerous job. "I'm not age-conscious yet, though. I'm 24."

"You get shot at often?" Clark foun dhimself asking. "Sounds thrilling. I guessed as much. You look too young."

Regina paused to think. "Depends on what you consider often. A few times since I've started, not a whole lot, just the crazy ones usually."
"And what about you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "You don't look that old yourself."

"Wow," Clark said in amazement. "I've never been shot at before, but I've gotten to watch people shootin g at each other."
He grinned sheepishly when she mentioned how young he looked.
"Ahh it's been about half a year for me. I'm only 23."

"Isn't it kind of surreal? I mean, I know that's a horrible way to look at it, but it's almost kind of interesting." Regina shrugged as if to shrug off her fascination with gunfire. "Just the same, I hope you never get caught up in it."
She watched how he acted when asked about his own age, and he seemed more bothered by it than she'd been! He was her age, though, which was nice. She needed more friends her own age.
"Oh, how rude, I never even introduced myself. Regina Savage," she said, shaking her head in disbelief that they'd been talking all this time and she'd failed to even give her name.

"I know what you mean: it's fascinating," he said.
Clark lightly slapped his own forehead with his hand before extending it to the officer.
"Sorry, I forgot too," he said quickly. "Clark Olsen."

Regina felt better when the guy admitted that he too found things like shootings fascinating.
"Well, nice to meet you, Clark," she said, smiling. "So, if you don't mind me asking, what do you do now that you've survived college?"

"Oh, well I'm a reporter and journalist for the Newspaper actually," he replied awkwardly. "I realize the strangeness of the situation. That my name is clark. . .that I resemble Clark Kent and that I write for the newspaper."
He laughed at the situation. Most people at the paper thought it was weird but funny. Some of them called him CK or Kent and others actually refered to him as Superman.
"Life thinks it's being funny. . .and my foster mother was a nerd."

"I think my parents really wanted a son, because they called me Reggie instead of Regina all the time," she said, though it wasn't quite as hilarious as his story. "That's too good, though. It is kind of amusing... that you turned out with that job. It's a cool job, though. I always loved to write when I was younger, but nothing big ever became of it," she admitted.

Clark laughed a bit when she said it was amusing.
"Yeah too bad I didn't get the dashing good looks of Superman though," he said. "That's a shame that it never went anywhere. I love writing too, though. And ever since I was little I wanted an exciting job, so it just kind of fell into place."

Regina debated saying something about how she'd choose him over superman any day, but didn't. She had just met the guy, after all, and she wasn't sure if that would be too awkward for the both of them. Instead, she decided with the safer comment of, "I wouldn't worry about it." She winked.
"Well then, that seems like the perfect job for you! I was always kind of drawn to the whole police thing, saving others, doing good in the world, and all that jazz," she added, smiling. "Call it a hero complex, but I like it. Gives you a sense of purpose, you know?"

"Hero complexes can be good. I imagine it would give you a real sense of purpose. Especially since you seem to like it so much. Stopping bad guys and righting wrongs: very edgy," he said grinning.

"Oh yes, that's me, a regular Superwoman." Regina stopped speaking and cringed at the reference. "Sorry," she said, but she was smiling which gave away the fact that she found the slip-up rather amusing.

"It's all right," Clark replied laughing quietly. "I've gotten used to it. When your own brother calls you CK everyday a little thing like a Superwoman reference is actually quite refreshing."

Regina was glad that he didn't take his name too seriously. " 'Kay. Well, all puns aside, it is a pretty cool job. But you too. I mean, journalism, wow. You get paid to do what you love, or at least I assume you love writing. That's gotta be the best situation in the world."

"I do love writing and field work," Clark said eagerly. "It's a great situation for me."
He pause. . .wondering what he could say next. He felt so awkward during silences.
"I hope you won't think I'm some sort of weirdo. . .but if you're not doing anything tomorrow, would you like to go get a drink or something to eat?"
