Crap, dancing. Vinnie glanced over at Viola nervously and hoped to God she didn't feel like dancing. For one, Vinnie could not dance and Garrett looked awkward out there enough for the both of them. If him and Viola went out there odds were that Desmond would start dancing with him, and just because Desmond held back when he was with Garrett didn't mean he did the same for Vinnie. But still, if Viola wanted to dance Vinnie would have no choice; he didn't want to be rude and disappoint his date.

Viola noticed Vinnie's nervous glance as most of the kids started getting up to dance. She resisted the urge to sigh, ass she rather liked dancing.
"You're not one for dancing, are you?" she asked instead.

"Oh, no, it's not that!" Vinnie lied, "I mean, if you want to I'll dance." He had a feeling Viola was the dancing type. He hated being so polite some times.

Desmond could tell Faye coming over was making Garrett a little uncomfortable. The boy was just going to have to suck it up if he wanted to be Faye's boyfriend. Until then Desmond was just going to have to lighten the mood and take everyones focus away from Garrett's awkward dancing. "Oooer, it's Faye-faye!" said Desmond as Faye joined them. "I'm sure Faye wouldn't mind joining me on a trip to Babylon!" Desmond gave Garrett a meaningful look.

"Come to join our little dance party?"
"Of course," she said, smiling back at Garrett. She didn't want to seem stuck-up on herself, but she had noticed that the more time she spent around Garrett the more he seemed to be happier. He was smiling a lot more recently, and whether it was her or just the fact that she always happened to be around when he did, well, it was a nice change from his usual persona. She knew he had a not-so-nice home life, and it was nice for him to seem genuinely happier lately, whatever the reason.
"Oooer, it's Faye-faye! I'm sure Faye wouldn't mind joining me on a trip to Babylon!"
She laughed, wondering how well she'd fit in at the gay dance club. She lifted her arms above her head as she danced to the beat, singing the lyrics softly under her breath as the song progressed. "Of course I wouldn't," she agreed. "Just give me a time and a place."
She continued to dance, going lower to the floor before coming back up, glad that she was having fun at the homecoming dance. "Loosen up!" she advised Garrett, with a wink, hoping that he would stop being so tense and self-conscious about everything he did all the time. She started dancing with him more so than Desmond, which was only to be expected as he was her date, after all.

"Oh good!" she said happily, standing up. "Then let's go dance!"
This was a dance after all, and she loved Sexy Back. . .and Jay Tee, so it was only natural that she would want to get up and dance to it. However, Vinnie wasn't exactly the most enthusiastic looking before, so maybe she shouldn't make him.
"You don't have to dance if you don't want to," she said. "I could just go and dance with some of the others. We're just here as friends, so you don't have to do the date stuff."

((it's so tempting to pull a Garrett's a closet amazing dancer right now. He throws down the coat and and bust's a move. .. teehee))
"If I go within 100 feet of Babylon, my Dad'd kill me," Garrett said, with a shrug.
Faye advised him to loosen up, and though she winked, he flashed her an embarrassed grin. He thought this was him loosened up. She began to dance with him as opposed to Desmond and he grinned. He attempted a similar move to what she had done. Swiveling his hips down ward in tune with the music. It didn't work out half bad. Maybe he wasn't so bad at dancing as he thought, he just had to let go.
He smirked at Faye and then flashed her a look as if to say: Better?

"No no! I'll dance with you!" said Vinnie hastily. If Viola went out on the dance floor by herself Desmond would notice and make Vinnie dance anyway. Either way Vinnie was doomed to end up on that dance floor. He stood slowly as if dance was his death sentence. "Ok, ready when you are!" he said with a smile, trying not to show how much he dreaded this whole ordeal.

Blane was fashionable late with one of the Senior Cheerleaders on his arm. The girls name was Kelly or Stacey or something like that and she had a nice rack and blond hair so it was all good. He got a table with all his football buddies and their date; mostly cheerleaders as well. It didn't take long for him to notice his ex-girl friend Brooke with that Tad son of a bitch. Even though they'd broken up nearly a month ago Blane was still very sour about the whole ordeal. Blane saw it as Tad stealing his property and no one stole from Blane. Of course he was smart enough not to start something in the middle of the dance, but there would be plenty of opportunities afterward. . .

Brooke looked over at the door as she noticed Blane entering. She couldn't deny the tightness in her chest, which she interpreted as worry and fear, though she didn't know why. While he wasn't doing anything at the moment she couldn't help but think that trouble just seemed to follow him everywhere he went. She just hoped he wasn't going to try and pull anything.
"D'you wanna dance?"
She looked back at her date with a smile on her face. Dancing would probably be best; it would help to keep her mind off of Blane, his date, and what trouble may be brewing. If he ruined this dance, there would be hell to pay.
"Sure," she said, allowing him to lead her out to where everyone was dancing.

There was a moment after she had jokingly told Garrett to loosen up during which time she was afraid he'd taken her too seriously and thought she was making fun of him or something. She hadn't meant it like that at all, and had just been joking about his somewhat tense movements, but was very relieved when he just tried to copy her own dance move and then shot her a questioning look. She smiled a little at how cute he was just then, as if he needed her approval to keep dancing like he was.
She smiled and nodded slightly, glad that he was starting to enjoy himself. Overthinking could kill everything sometimes. He just needed to go on his impulses a little more, and he'd be fine.
Faye was enjoying herself now. She was more relaxed, and in her element as they continued dancing, moving just the slightest bit closer to Garrett as she did so. She didn't want to overstep his comfort zone, but dancing was usually done a bit closer, especially at high school functions. She wasn't into the whole 'bumping and grinding' deal, but she did like to dance.

Tad saw Blane come in too, but decided to ignore him. Instead, he took Brooke's hand and led her out onto the dance floor. He didn't think he was spectacular at dancing, but he knew how to have a good time, and didn't care if he was another Patrick Swayze so long as he was having a good time. Of course, he had the good fortune to actually be a fairly decent dancer. He started moving to the beat and just let the tune lead his movements.

Dylan came to the Homecoming dance in solo mode. He didn't immediately spot Adamo, or any of his friends, so he took a moment to go get a drink form a punchbowl. He couldn't help but grin to himself as he thought about all the kids present. Dances were fun events for him, he liked to people watch sometimes, and well dance in genera. He supposed he was playing to the stereotype in that sense, but didn't care.

Dr. Alan Myers hated coming to high school dances. There was always some sort of disturbance over something absolutely ridiculous that he had to break up at some point in the night. He had to be here, though, he was supposed to read off the winners of the titles of Homecoming King and Queen. And so it was that he made his way up to the front of the cafeteria, where the mic was located. He motioned to the dj to turn down the music, and tapped the mic twice to get everyone's attention.
"Hello boys and girls," he said. "I trust you're all enjoying yourselves? Well it's time for me to announce this years St' James Homecoming queen and king. First we have the homecoming queen. ((I realize they do this at football games quite suddenly))"
He paused here to open up the first envelope. HE pulled out aq slip of paper and read off the name on it.
"Brooke Lynch," he announced.

You can bump and grind 'cause it's good for your mind. . . .jk.
Garrett noticed Faye moving slightly closer and couldn't help but grin. Yeah, he could et into dancing. He took a step closer himself. He felt himself both tense up and relax withing seconds of themselves. The first sensation was the tensing up. What if he was getting too close? What if she moved away? Then he felt himself relax. What good was life without a few risks? He hated showing his emotions to other people and preferred seeming cool and collected anyway, not a heap of nerves.
He was toying with the idea of putting his hands on her hips, though she had agreed to come just as friends, when he heard the announcement for Homecoming Kind and Queen. He applauded when Brooke's name was called and began silently hoping that Blane's wasn't the next name called.

Tad grumbled. Just as they were starting to dance, the principal interrupted. He realized, though, that this was probably the announcement for Homecoming King and Queen. While he knew he couldn't be king himself, as he was just a junior, he knew Brooke was a nominee.
Sure enough, she had won. He looked at her and grinned, clapping enthusiastically for his date and girlfriend.
"Well done," he said with a wink. "Go on and get your crown or whatever it is you crazy homecoming queens do."

Cynthia was standing around, drinking her punch smile a smile on her face. She had spoken to a few people so far, and while she didn't really enjoy dancing she didn't mind the whole night thus far. She knew that she was in the running for homecoming queen, and while she didn't really expect to win the award she felt like it was her duty to come, just in case. After all, she had helped plan everything, so she might as well enjoy the fruits of her labor.
When the principal got up to announce the winner she couldn't help but feel a slight tightness in her chest as the envelope was opened... a pressure which receded once Brooke's name was called. Though she would have liked to win she was very happy for her friend, and cheered and clapped wildly for Brooke.
"Woo!" she yelled, still clapping as Brooke went up to get her tiara.

"Brooke Lynch."
Though she had known that she was nominated, Brooke hadn't really thought she would win. Of course, she realized that she did have plenty of friends, but since her messy break-up with Blane she knew that she'd lost favor in a few important circles.
She smiled, looking around at all of her friends as they clapped and cheered for her. This was pretty important to her, and she was glad to see that even Cynthia, who had also been in the running, was cheering for her.
"Well done," he said with a wink. "Go on and get your crown or whatever it is you crazy homecoming queens do."
"Thanks," she said, taking a moment to give her date and hug and a quick kiss before she made her way over to where the principal was standing, with two students. (Don't they have last year's kind/queen put the tiara on or something? We'll pretend that happened).
She looked out at the mass of students, still smiling in slight disbelief. She couldn't wipe the grin from her face.

When Vinnie finally agreed to dance with her, she led the way out to the floor. She had barely begun to shake her hips, when announcements for Homecoming Queen and King started up. Viola clapped and cheered along with the others when Tad's girlfriend got called up as Homecoming Queen. Poor Tad, not that he'd actually make King, but he didn't have the opportunity to try to get voted either.
"I was my school's Homecoming Queen, you know, " she said to Vinnie as casually as she could manage. Of course she was proud of this information, but she didn't want to come off as sounding pompous.

Vinnie had only been on the dance floor for a few seconds when the music stopped so the Homecoming king and queen could be announced. Oh thank Jesus, thought Vinnie. He was quite happy that Brooke had won queen and clapped enthusiastically. He was glad that Brooke was still popular even though she was no longer with Blane who's popularity Vinnie just didn't understand.
"I was my school's Homecoming Queen, you know, "
"Really?" said Vinnie with a smile, turning to Viola, "That's awesome. Yeah, I don't even think I was nominated. Oh well." He really thought it was cool that Viola was her school's homecoming queen. It just showed how likable of a person she was.

Alan watched as the previous homecoming queen place the silver tiara on Brooke's head. He then pulled open the other envelope.
"And this years Homecoming King is. . .Blane Robinson," he said reading off the name inside the envelope. Oh he knew that name all too well and was disappointed to have to read it off.

"FUCK YEAH!" exclaimed Blane when he heard his named called for King. He slapped numerous high fives with his foot ball buddies. Of course he'd been expecting it; who wouldn't vote for him? He knew he had the whole foot ball team and cheer leading squad, well most of them, on his side so he had a guaranteed win. The fact that Brooke was Queen made his victory all that sweeter; now he was going to dance with Taddy's girlfriend.
Blane strutted up to where the principle was with a smug grin on his face to get his crown.

Alan watched again as this time the previous Homecoming king place a crown on Blane's head. Yeah, this was just the sort of ego boost this kid needed. . . he frowned, but continued speaking, his raspy voice reverberating throughout the caf.
"And now the Homecoming King and Queen will do a traditional dance," he announced.
He motined to the dj who pumped the music back up. The song, _____insert your own slow song here because I can't think of one____ began playing.
